Outpost is an independent publication on the strategy and structure of the entertainment industry. It publishes insights, Non-obvious truths about how attention is captured and classified, engagement is built and retained, and value is converted and monetized.
For more than a decade, Andrés Lauer and Julian Mazoteras have conducted private research in the entertainment industry to build an analytical view of its different sub-sections and the growing competition between them.
Outpost is the public surface of that practice. Its editorial promise is to translate complexity: to render the technical, fragmented, and non obvious reality of these industries into language that is broadly usable and understandable.
Coverage
Outpost’s primary coverage is music, gaming, content, and the creator economy. These are the categories where its analytical and operational expertise is deepest. Film, sports, and the experience economy are adjacent categories, covered where relevant. Music remains the primary lens; the others are read in relation to it. Advertising is covered only where it intersects with the entertainment industry. News, creative agencies, and non-profits are out of scope.
Geographic scope is Western: Europe, the United States, and Latin America. Asia, India, and Africa are growing in relevance, size, and importance, but outside Outpost’s core operational expertise. Coverage of those regions is limited and clearly framed when it occurs.
Editorial principles
Outpost is an analytical publication, not a news outlet. Research cycles run three to six months per topic. Being right matters more than being first. The writing is human; AI is used only for research and production support. All editorial work is unpaid, unsponsored, and non-promotional.
